To close out Read Across America Week 2026, our elementary schools welcomed some special visitors over the past two days. Forest Elementary was visited by the University of New Haven Football Team 🏈 and the Dance and Cheerleading teams from Southern Connecticut State University along with their mascot Otus the Owl 🦉. Mackrille Elementary also welcomed many guests including Mayor Dorinda Borer, Judge Cirello ⚖️, Superintendent Neil Cavallaro, and several other community members. We hope everyone enjoyed celebrating the joy of reading this week. 📣📚
Important Notice: All West Haven Public Schools will open on a 2-hour delay today due to icy conditions. Please note that Bailey Middle School’s previously scheduled half day has been changed, and students will now dismiss at their normal time today.

Important Notice: Due to the half day scheduled for staff development and the prospect of more snow tomorrow, all West Haven Public Schools will be closed on Wednesday, February 25, 2026. This will give the city additional time to clean bus stops and plow roads for those who are still snowed in. With this decision, we expect a full day of school on Thursday, February 26, 2026.
