West Haven Mayor Dorinda Borer visited Seth Haley and Mackrille Elementary Schools to share a special storytime with first-grade students. She read How to Catch a Monster by Adam Wallace and Andy Elkerton — a playful tale about facing your fears and discovering that what seems scary at first may not be so frightening after all. The book’s message of bravery and understanding tied in perfectly with the spirit of the season.
After the reading, Mayor Borer led students in a Halloween-themed “I Spy” activity that had everyone engaged and smiling. The interactive worksheet encouraged observation and teamwork while keeping the fun going. It was a memorable visit that combined learning, laughter, and a little seasonal excitement.
