School Governance Council

Each of our schools has a school governance council. The intent of school governance councils is to enable parents, school, staff and community leaders to work together to improve student achievement. Students may be members at the high-school level. The councils serve in an advisory capacity to assist the school administration. For more information, view this presentation.

Mackrille's School Governance Council

The purpose of this council is to engage families and community members to build a partnership in making Mackrille a school of excellence that prepares all students for success.    One of many things our council has done is designed signs and posters in different languages to create a friendlier atmosphere for students and parents.  Another initiative we started is an enrichment club that meets after school, two days a week, to help students with math and reading.  The Governance Council has also incorporated Family Nights into the school year as a great way for parents to see the wonderful things the children do during the year.  One of our favorite nights is International Night.  It is a fun night with our families filled with food, dancing, and fashion.  This year we are hoping to expand our family nights by having a career day/night.  We are always looking for new ideas to help our school connect with our community and to build a more positive atmosphere.
