Hello Parents/Guardians!

We are so excited to be working with your children this year!  We are going to have a great year!

Please be sure that your child brings a book bag, folder, snack and juice/water with them every day.
Your children will be eating lunch in school.  They are allowed to buy lunch if you choose to.

The students will have snack every day.  It is about 10-15 minutes.

Your child will come home with homework every day except Friday.  Please help your child read the directions and complete it each night.

Remind your child to write their name (first and last) on their homework papers.  Be sure they are writing their name using correct uppercase and lowercase letters.

If your child is normally a bus student and you will be picking up instead please send in a written note.

IMPORTANT:  Your child will only be dismissed to a parent/guardian, or the names you marked on the Emergency card.

When someone new is coming to pick up your child, if the name is NOT on the emergency card, they can NOT be dismissed to them without a written note.

We always check ID of someone new that we have not met coming to pick up your child. Please let that particular person know so that they have their ID ready.

Field Trips!!

We will be going on some field trips this year that will require some chaperones.  If you would like to volunteer, please indicate on the form that comes home.

We have a NO FOOD policy regarding birthday celebrations.

Some ideas:

  • Come in to do a craft with students.
  • Read a story to the class and color a picture.
  • Small goody bag with pencils, erasers, crayons, etc. (Anything appropriate for school, but NO FOOD/CANDY)

Mrs. Drenzek’s Reading Journey

Our principal, Mrs. Drenzek, will be doing a reading challenge with the school.  We are asking that your child read every night.  Ask them to pick their favorite book and help them write a sentence about their favorite part of the story.  They will return the sentence at the end of every month.  A monthly reading challenge sheet will come home every month.

"Children are made readers on the laps of their parents."

Kindergarten Curriculum

We have begun our first unit.  Our focus will be comparing and matching numbers 0-20.  Students have to identify the numbers (in random order) and write them the correct way.  No backwards numbers!  If your child is making mistakes and writing numbers backwards at home please correct them.  They will have math homework every day (except Friday).

We will be doing a lot of writing in our classroom.  Students will be keeping some of their writing in school and will bring some home.  Encourage your child to sound out different words and write the sounds that they hear.  We will begin with drawing pictures and asking students to label their picture.

We have started our letter of the week.  Please help your child write and identify the letter and the letter sound.

Also, we have begun our words of the week.  Students will be introduced to 2 words every week
Flash cards will be sent home with each unit!
