Welcome to the Art Room with Mrs. Hauer. I have been an elementary art teacher in the West Haven School District for 20 years. I have taught at Molloy, Mackrille, and Pagels elementary schools. This year I am working at Mackrille School all 10 days of the itinerant schedule. If you would like to contact me, please feel free to email me at and I will be in touch with you ASAP.
In the art room  we will be exploring various types of art materials, such as watercolor paints, tempera paints, oil pastels, colored chalks, markers, crayons, colored pencils, etc.  Sometimes we do get messy.  Most of the materials used are water based and washable, but not everything is as easy as it sounds.  In general, it is a good idea to have your child come to school with an old t-shirt for an "art smock" on the days they are scheduled to have art class.

Welcome back to another exciting school year in the Art Room with Mrs. Hauer!  I hope you are all well rested, relaxed, and ready to get your creativity flowing. At the end of the school year in June, I had the distinct pleasure of painting handprints on our garden boxes in the courtyard next to the library with then entire student population of Mackrille. It was wonderful way for the students to see the connection between school, community, and environment.  This year we have decided to continue with the beautification of school garden by adding painted stones to line the courtyard and possibly beyond. The book "Only One You" by Linda Kranz will be our inspiration. Last Fall, Mrs Drenzek read the book to the entire school at our first reading challenge assembly. In the art room we will continue to paint stones throughout the the school year, then continually adding them to the courtyard. If any family would like to donate smooth hand sized stones, your help will be greatly appreciated. Please feel free to contact me via my school email and I will get back to you ASAP.  Looking forward a great school year full of art discovery.
