Edith E. Mackrille Elementary School was recently recognized by the State Department of Education as a “School of Distinction” based on results of the state's Next Generation Accountability System report. The school was among one of 84 schools in the state to be honored for the performance of all students, as well as the performance of students in high needs subgroups, in English Language Arts and Mathematics.

Teachers and staff received a celebratory lunch in May, and Superintendent Neil Cavallaro, Assistant Superintendent Anne Druzolowski, Board of Education Chairman James Morrissey, Board of Education members Susan Walker and Rosa Richardson, Mayor Edward O'Brien and City Clerk Deborah Collins came to the school to visit with teachers and see classroom lessons in action.

She then spoke about teaching and learning at Mackrille at the May 16 Board of Education meeting. Board members congratulated the Mackrille community on the accomplishments and happy news.
